The political compass index is the result from an online test you can do to see where you sit on a political scale from right to left or centre.
In the test you are asked a series of questions and it determines weather you are economically right or left, and socially liberal or authoritarian.
The test will give you a score iether in the pluss or minus. If you're in the minus you are left wing and liberal and in the pluss you are right wing and authoritarian.
it is possible for someone to be economically right wing, and socially liberal. these types of people are called economic liberatarians. It's possible for the opposite to occur also.
People who score a 1 or 2 on iether side of the scale are generally considered to be quite socially and economically centred.
My results are.
Economic Left/Right: 1.38
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 2.56

I'm an economic left-wing libertarian.

Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 0.77
It's also interesting to keep doing the test every 6 months or so, my results changed quite drastically, believe it or not, i was actually more authoritarian.
